How are disc brake pads/rotors/callipers made?

Hmm I will give you the basics of each but each one has several different methods and techniques. I will go in order. brake pads are made of an organic, semi metallic, or ceramic material and it is usually riveted to a metal "guide" that actually fits into the caliper. Rotors are made from either casting or from solid stock(metal) and machined to the vehicles specs. And yes they can be made cheaply out of inferior materials or the machining process isn't 100% inspected. So even though cheap rotor will work fine I have them turned to true them up, or to make sure they are not warped. Calipers are made the same way they are poured cast or solid blcok material and machined to vehicle specs. They are outfitted with a singel or mulitple hydraulic piston that presses against the pads that grip the rotor. Hope this helps you.
